The “Hellier” is the most famous of Antonio Stradivari’s inlaid violins. Originally purchased by Sir Samuel Hellier in the early 18th century directly from the Master, the instrument eventually passed to Mr. H.E. Morriss, a Shanghai newspaper publisher. Fortunately, Mr. Morriss took the Hellier with him to England before World War II; after World War II, Morriss saw all of his Shanghai possessions confiscated by the revolutionary functionaries of Mao Zedong and put on display as “plunder”. The original “Hellier” is presently in the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

Excellent version of Suzuki Violin 1 CD

David Nadien’s CD is a great version – it includes the piano accompaniments so that your child can play with the CD.

Great CD!

Reviewer: CatherineS,
I’m an adult violin student and have tried to use the CD’s that come with the Suzuki books, but I’ve ended up purchasing CD’s performed by David Nadien every time. In fact, I just bought the CD for book 4 today. The quality of the CD’s performed by David Nadien are hands-down better than the ones that come with the books. My only complaint is that Nadien just performs for books 1-4 — which means I’ll have to try to find a performer for books 5 and up that I like as much.

Great CD

This is the 3rd CD from the Suzuki series we’ve purchased. Like
the 1st two CDs, it’s good, clear and well played. The piano accompaniment is not overwhelming nor is it too soft. My daughter enjoys listening and playing her violin along with these CDs. It’s a good idea to have this to play the new songs so your child can hear the pieces for Book 3 of the Suzuki pieces. She asks for it when we’re in the car so that she can listen to it while I drive.

Great

This CD is a very useful tool for students using the Suzuki book 1 to learn violin. My daughter uses it daily for her practice sessions!
